Features

The iSL232 card is a type II PCMCIA card for notebooks and other computers containing a PCMCIA slot. It provides one RS232 port with a 16C450 compatible chip. It is a simple means for attaching an additional RS232 port to a notebook, for example, if the built-in port is used by a mouse, if an external modem shall be used or if multiple RS232 driven instruments shall be connected to the notebook. The maximum number of cards usable is limited only by the number of available PCMCIA slots.

The card works with Microsoft® Windows® 95/98 and Windows NT® operating systems. It installs itself directly as COM port with a baud rate up to 57600Baud. The plug and play PCMCIA design ensures simple installation, even if the standard ports can't be used because of address conflicts. A valuable safety feature, that most standard ports do not incorporate, is the ESD protection.
