Single Port RS232 Opto-isolated Serial Communications PCMCIA Card

Description

The IC232 is a unique way to add a single RS232 opto-isolated asynchronous serial port to your laptop, PDA, or desktop (using one of Elan's Desktop PCMCIA adapters).  Using an optically isolated port means that there is no direct galvanic connection between your computer and the terminal equipment you are plugged in to.  This means no possibility of ground loops or hazardous potentials that could occur with non isolated cards.  The card automatically configures to become another COM port by using the built-in O.S. drivers that are tried and tested and are optimized to work in the Windows environment.

Technical Features
16C550 UART with 16-byte TX and RX FIFOs for high speed and reliable communications up to 115KBaud.
RS232 port has full galvanic isolation from PC Card slot with isolation to 75V ac rms.
Supported by standard drivers in DOS*, Windows95, 98, 98SE, Me, NT4, 2000, XP, CE, PocketPC & Linux.  Card comes with Elan's Card Center Pro software that installs INF scripts and sample code.
Automatic O.S. recognition and configuration.  Hot swappable PCMCIA 2.1+ compliant Type II design.
Low power consumption: Typical 165mA at 5V, automatically reduces to 100mA when comms cable is disconnected.
15KVolt ESD protected RS232 drivers and receivers for protection of your card and PC.
Supplied with 300mm Type45 cable.  Connector latches into PC Card for security. DB9 Male with female screwlocks and industry standard RS232 pinout for direct attachment of terminal equipment.
Can be fitted with Elan's unique Strain Relief Assembly to ruggedize the PC Card to cable connection (optional extra), product code "SRA1".
Also available with robust direct cable termination instead of Type45 cable, product code SL232R, MOQ may apply.
